{"id":8088,"date":"2025-09-26T12:02:05","date_gmt":"2025-09-26T11:02:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biblioteka.ignatianum.edu.pl\/?page_id=8088"},"modified":"2025-10-16T10:49:42","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T09:49:42","slug":"jesuit-archives","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/biblioteka.ignatianum.edu.pl\/en\/collections-catalogues\/jesuit-archives\/","title":{"rendered":"Digitalization of scientific documents &#8211; Jesuit Archives"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-3763f4da default uagb-is-root-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-f61c98df\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-d35e3d60\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>The library has an invaluable&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/portal.bibliotekaaik.pl\/en\/art.36.special-collection.html\">special collection<\/a>&nbsp;of&nbsp;photocopies and microfilms on the history of the Jesuits in Poland with archival and library documentation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The collection includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>documents from the Archives of the Roman Society of Jesus (Archivum Romanum Societatis Iesu &#8211; ARSI),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>manuscripts from Archiwum Prowincji Polski Po\u0142udniowej Towarzystwa Jezusowego w Krakowie (ATJKr),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>manuscripts from Polish archives and non-Jesuits libraries,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>microfilms of documents about Polish Jesuits (stored in libraries of Austria, Sweden and Lithuania)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The collection includes approximately 250.000 microfilm shots about the history of the Republic of Poland in XVI-XVIII century. Part of the archive documentation is the only remnant of the lost or destroyed originals. The materials are a source for research on Old Polish secondary and higher education in Central and Eastern Europe, the history of books and printing and the role of the Church in promoting culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>About the project Digitalization of scientific documents &#8211; Jesuit Archives:<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>archival material recorded on microfilm has been decided to transfer to digital media,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>from 2004 to 2006\u00a0thanks to the sponsors and finances of Prowincja\u00a0Polski Po\u0142udniowej Towarzystwa Jezusowego w Krakowie, it was possible to scan about one third of the collections that were recorded on DVD-ROMs,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>since September 2007 the works have been continued as a project Digitalization of scientific documents &#8211; Jesuit Archives, co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage under the Operational Programme &#8220;Cultural Heritage&#8221;, priority 5 &#8220;Creation of digital cultural heritage resources&#8221;,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the task also includes the maintenance of microfilms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- PMB print buttons is only displayed on a single post\/page URLs-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The library has an invaluable&nbsp;special collection&nbsp;of&nbsp;photocopies and microfilms on the history of the Jesuits in Poland with archival and library documentation.&nbsp; The collection includes: The collection includes approximately 250.000 microfilm shots about the history of the Republic of Poland in XVI-XVIII century.
